Greater Harris County 911 Public Education Site
"Dedicated to the development and sharing of 9-1-1 educational programs and resources"
Welcome to the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network (GHC9-1-1) public education site. GHC 9-1-1 is dedicated to educating the public in all of its territory about the purpose and the proper use of the emergency phone number 9-1-1. Educational materials are designed, developed and distributed to the general public through GHC 9-1-1 education program. Throughout the year, these items are researched, evaluated and ordered based on the need for yearly educational efforts. The 9-1-1 educational materials are provided to numerous local special events to spread the word about 9-1-1.
GHC 9-1-1 works with the Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications (CSEC), the 9-1-1 Public Educators of Texas Educators, and the NENA Education Committee to develop and promote consistent educational messages related to 9-1-1.
9-1-1 Educators who volunteer throughout the community are vital to the GHC 9-1-1 public education efforts as they work directly with the public in their local areas to educate them on 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 Educators share the 9-1-1 message with young children at schools and community events. In addition to young children, materials and presentations are given to adults, senior citizens and Deaf and hard-of-hearing residents.
